A Cassville man was arrested this week for two alleged armed burglaries at the Cassville Apartments on Old Exeter Road. Brent Charles Metcalf, 47, of Cassville, was charged with two counts of burglary in the first degree, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of armed criminal action.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Metcalf broke into two different apartments on January 28. In one apartment, he held the victim in her apartment, not allowing her to leave. After texting her neighbors for help, they kicked the door open and removed Metcalf. Metcalf allegedly told the victim he had a large knife but would not hurt her.
In a different apartment, the occupant came home to find Metcalf asleep in his bed. Metcalf fled the scene on foot while officers were in pursuit.
Once taken into custody, Metcalf was in possession of a large 13” knife, a flashlight and a clear plastic box that contained methamphetamine. According to officers, Metcalf had a lengthy criminal history which included multiple drug arrests.
Metcalf is currently being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 cash-only bond.
