Cassville man Robert O. LeCompte, 22, was arrested last week for alleged child abuse. LeCompte has been charged with child abuse, a class C felony.
LeCompte was attempting to get his five week old daughter to stop crying, according to the affidavit of probable cause by Cassville Police Department Detective Danny Boyd. Det. Boyd wrote that LeCompte covered the infant’s mouth and nose with his hand to stop her from crying on February 9 at an apartment on Gravel Street in Cassville.
The baby sustained injuries from being smothered by LeCompte’s hand, including bruising, contusions and broken blood vessels in both of her eyes.
LeCompte is being held in the Barry Count Jail in lieu of a $30,000 cash-only bond, issued by Barry County Judge Robert Foulke on February 10.
