August 25, 2021
Ezra DeVore
• Inspection:
All Cassville R-IV buses passed inspection by the Missouri Highway Patrol, as has been customary for the Cassville School District.
• Employment:
The Board approved the employment of Melissa Vollenweider for an elementary teaching position.
The Board also approved the employment of Peggy Collins and Teri Dudley as food service employees.
• Projects:
The playground project update was discussed. With an approved contract and the bid process complete, R.E. Smith, a Joplin-based construction company, will be presenting pricing and value engineering options within the next week for the District to consider and accept. An official update on the playground start date will be shared as soon as it is known.
A contract with Paragon, a Missouri architecture company, has been approved; meaning, a new Performing Arts Center will begin the early phases of construction, and should be completed within the next few years.
Dr. Johnson, Superintendent of the Cassville School District, had this to say:
“I have enjoyed getting to know many of you over the past few weeks as we have been able to learn together during our professional development days. I would like to thank you all for your dedication to building new relationships, growing in a collaborative culture, and demonstrating grace as we develop plans to safely welcome our students back to school next Tuesday. Cassville is a wonderful community with an exceptional school district. I am so excited to see kids fill our hallways and classrooms. There will be challenges this school year... and I believe if we work together and stay positive we can achieve success for all of our children. Thank you for your continued patience and perseverance as we prepare for this school year.”
