Cassville students compete in Engineering Day

More than 150 high school students from 11 local schools traveled to Crowder College's Neosho Campus on February 20 to compete in the first Engineering Day. Throughout the day, students had the chance to participate in several STEM related competitions. Students had the opportunity to compete in the following: build balsa wood bridges, build simple motors, design and fly paper airplanes, build boats using tinfoil to test how many pennies they could hold and assemble the components of a computer to create an operable, internet-capable machine. CHS students won the following: Gavin Moore and Zane Mebruer placed first in computer construction; Brennan Sorensen and Mark Crosby placed first in electric motor construction; Sam Holman, Shannon Haney and Eli Herrin placed second in team mathematics; and Shannon Haney and Eli Herrin placed second in simple machines.
