Charlea Estes Grief was felt throughout the Cassville community after rate death of twin boys from Cassville High School on Friday afternoon. Lawrence and Michael Dickson, 16, of Cassville, were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 248. Lawrence was driving a Ford F150 eastbound on Highway 248 about two miles west of Wheelerville with his brother, Michael, on Friday when they ran off the road and overturned, according to the Missouri State Highway crash report. Despite wearing seat belts, both boys were killed in the crash, leaving fellow students, faculty and the community to mourn their loss. Barry County deputy coroner Charles McManus pronounced the two deceased at the scene of the crash at 4:13 p.m. According to Cassville R-IV Schools superintendent Dr. Richard Asbill, counselors were at the school on Monday to help faculty and students deal with the loss of the brothers, who played football at the school. Other events planned in the community, including the Big Man on Campus competition that was slated for Saturday night, were postponed or cancelled due to the crash and respect for the family. Lawrence and Michael are survived by their mother, Tammy Dickson, of Cassville; father, Kevin Dickson, of Springfield; as well as siblings and other family members. |
