On its December 29 situational update, the Barry County Health Department reports an increase of 68 positive cases of COVID-19 over its December 23 report. The December 23 report showed an increase of 142 positive cases above its December 16 report.
The decrease in positive cases is encouraging, although part of the explanation may be that fewer tests were given last week than the week prior. Based on the health department’s report, 247 tests were given the week ending December 29, while the previous week saw 449 tests administered in the county.
Barry County’s positivity rate currently stands at 14 percent.
The total positive number of cases of COVID-19 reported in Barry County is 2,396.
Of those, 2,279 have recovered, 73 are in isolation, more than 200 are in quarantine, five are hospitalized, and 44 have died.
