COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Barry & Lawrence Counties

According to the Barry County Health Department and Office of Emergency Management, in a situational update released this afternoon, Barry County's total number of cases stand at 180 and include, 177 confirmed positive cases, one presumptive case, and two antibody-positive cases. One hundred, twenty-seven people have recovered, 53 are in isolation, and two are hospitalized. Close contacts currently numbering 247 are quarantined at home.
The majority of cases (61) are in the "Under 25" age bracket; of the 25 - 40 age range, 48 people have tested positive; in the 41 - 60 age group, 36 have tested positive; and the "Over 61" group, has seen a total of 35 cases up to date.
The number of cases in Barry County nursing homes continues to rise. Lacoba has 40 residents and/or employees who have tested positive, and Bentonview Park is showing 22 cases as of today.
The Lawrence County Health Department is reporting a total of 132 positive cases as of today. Of those, 54 are active, 76 have recovered and two have died.
One positive case was reported in an Aurora High School football player. The health department has decided to allow players and coaches to continue practicing, but they must monitor for symptoms until July 30th, as well as limit social contact with others. If another player tests positive, all practice will cease immediately and all players and coaches will begin quarantine.
