Cox Monett Hospital is making sure teachers at Monett High School have the tools they need in case of an emergency. The hospital recently donated 40 emergency medical supply bags for each classroom at the school.
“These items will help us improve our response in the event of a true emergency situation,” said Ashley Cupps, special education teacher and safety committee coordinator at Monett High School. “The items inside the bags will enable us to treat minor wounds, improve our response time, clear emergency pathways, and secure emergency locations to ensure the safety of our students.”
Each emergency supply bag contains the following items: first-aid kit, vinyl gloves, solar blanket, tape, hammer, paracord, flashlight, batteries, whistle, screwdriver, hand sanitizer, Kleenex and face mask.
“When it comes to emergency preparedness, we always say it’s not a matter of if, but when,” said Darren Bass, president of Cox Monett. “We were very excited for the opportunity to help Monett High School with this project—it feels good to know that teachers are well-equipped with the supplies needed to handle an emergency.”
Teachers will receive information on how to use the emergency supplies at an upcoming training session.
