Domestic assault charges filed

According to a probable cause statement issued by Deputy Thaddaeus Harris of the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, a warrant was issued for the arrest of William Rodney Moore, of Aurora, on July 27.
According to Harris’s statement, in an alleged incident which occurred at the Old Jenkins Bridge south of Aurora on July 26, Moore knowingly and deliberately used his vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Caravan, to ram into his wife’s 2002 Mitsubishi in an alleged attempt to push her vehicle into the water. Her children were in the car with her.
According to the statement, the victim was able to get her vehicle free from the alleged assault, but inadvertently backed into a ditch, where Moore blocked her escape with his van. He then allegedly exited his vehicle, wrapped his arm in his shirt and began striking the driver’s side window in an attempt to gain entry. When the victim called emergency services, he fled the scene.
According to Harris’s statement, the victim feared for her life and those of her children.
According to the probable cause statement, Moore is currently on parole for Murder in the 2nd Degree, for which he was convicted in 1992 in Wright County.
Moore was apprehended and is being held in the Barry County Jail on charges of Domestic Assault - First Degree. His bond is set at $100,000.
