Enrollment varies for area schools

The statistics are in for the area schools’ enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year.
Cassville Schools came in with the largest jump. This year’s initial enrollment is 1,861. Last year, the school had 1,821 students. The overall increase was about 2 percent.
At Cassville, the Primary and Middle School each had fewer students in the building, but each had grades with significant increases. The school’s first grade gained 18 students over last year, and the seventh grade has nine more. The high school’s numbers are down 17 from last year with this year’s graduating class set to be 118 students, a drop compared to the graduating class of 2014 with 134 students.
Southwest Schools had a slight drop in attendance when compared to last year’s numbers. This year, school-wide enrollment is 182 students, seven fewer than 2013-2014’s 789. Most grades for the district held steady and the graduating classes are similar in size. Last year’s graduating class was 51 and this year’s is set to be 54. The school’s overall enrollment fell about 4 percent this year.
Exeter Schools gained two students over last year’s enrollment. For the 2014-2015 school year, K thorugh 12th grade has 329 students enrolled. Last year, the totals were 327.
Wheaton’s enrollment is almost to the student when compared to the 2013-2014 school year. Last year, Wheaton’s student count was 388 and this year is 387. While Wheaton’s graduating class is significantly smaller at 22 instead of 36, kindergarten received a big bump in students with 40 enrollment compared to 21 last year.
The Purdy School District has 19 additional students this year comparatively. The enrollment numbers for Purdy are up about 3 percent, from 680 total in 2013-2014 to 699 this year. Building total for Purdy were similar with the biggest increase being the high school. Last year, Purdy High School had 197 students and this year, the school has 210.
