Equipment failure causes truck to roll over driver

On Wednesday, July 31, equipment failure is to blame for a single Pierce City man being injured when his vehicle rolled over him as he opened a gate. According to the report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the truck rolled over him about seven miles south of Pierce City.
Edward J. Chapman, 70, of Pierce City, was at County Road 1005 after driving a Chevrolet C60. Chapman exited the vehicle to open a gate around 10:21 a.m. The report states there was equipment failure that resulted in the truck rolling over Chapman.
Chapman suffered moderate injuries from the incident and was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
The Chevy C60 sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.
