Exeter man arrested for statutory sodomy

An Exeter man is in jail after allegations of child sodomy that happened during an almost-two year span. Buck Nelson, 42, of Exeter, is charged with statutory sodomy in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree.
According to the affidavit of probable cause by Barry County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Hutson, the case was investigated after a hotline call of suspected abuse was placed on March 19 of this year. The allegation of sexual contact between Buck and a 13-year old victim was investigated by the Barry County Sheriff’s Department and an interview was done by the child advocacy center in Monett.
According to the affidavit, Nelson engaged in inappropriate touching and sexual acts with the victim but that the abuse stopped five months ago after he “found religion.”
The abuse allegedly took place between January 2014 and October 2015. The victim’s mother stated that she made contact with Nelson, and that he had admitted to the abuse.
According to the report, Nelson has a criminal history. He is currently being held in the Barry County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
