The First Baptist Church of Purdy welcomes Pastor Ed Lassley and his wife Karen to its ministry. Ed is originally from Springfield, Missouri, and Karen is originally from the Detroit, Michigan, area.
Ed previously pastored in Michigan and has recently come back to his home state of Missouri to pastor.
Ed and Karen have been married for 36 years and have three children, (Christopher, Bryan, and Ally), one daughter-in-law (DeAnn Lassley) and two grandsons (Titus, 5, and Nathan, 11 months).
Karen holds a Certificate of Ministry and Ed holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Leadership.
According to a press release from the church, Ed is very excited about the family spirit and ministry teamwork that is truly evident at First Baptist of Purdy.
“My dad had a ministry in Cincinnati,” Pastor Lassley said. “I had my own personal call, but growing up in a pastor’s family, you’re definitely inspired to surrender your life that way.”
Pastor Lassley earned his first degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Pastoral Studies from the Baptist Bible College in Springfield, where he met his wife, Karen, while she was earning her Certificate of Ministry. Pastor Lassley then earned a Masters Degree in Ministry from the Louisiana Theological Seminary, and his Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Albany, Georgia.
Since graduating, he has spent 27 years pastoring Baptist churches in Detroit and Cincinnati, as well as Grace Bible Church in Lansing, Michigan; yet even after 27 years, he still has plans.
“As a church,” Pastor Lassley continued, “we want to be a real beacon in our community, and see God’s kingdom be built. We’re looking forward to having ministries for children, families, and men and women to meet their individual needs.”
Currently living in Ozark to be with Ed’s parents, Ed and Karen Lassley plan to move to the central Barry County region and embrace this new chapter in their lives.
