Haven of the Ozarks raises over $7,000
during fundraiser

A local fundraiser from Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary raised over $7,000 in honor of Betty White’s love for animals, spearheaded by the generosity of local community members. “The inspiration for the fundraiser was from a viral social media post with this idea that started the day Betty White passed away. We knew right away that we also wanted to participate,” states Jen Silverberg, Treasurer for Haven of the Ozarks.
“We didn’t set up our fundraiser until closer to her actual birthday, so our original goal was only $1,000 with the thinking that so many other rescues are also doing the same fundraiser that we may not get as many donations. We were blown away with the outpouring and generosity of our supporters and met that goal within 24 hours, so we increased it to $5,000.”
“We raised just a little over that on Facebook,” Silverburg continued, “and then we also received a little over $2,000 more through Paypal donations, plus a few people made donations of items like dog food and even a Kuranda bed. So our final total was just over $7,000! I would love to see this become a yearly event in honor of Betty White’s love for animals.”
Haven of the Ozarks continually expressed their gratitude for the community’s acceptance of the cause, stating on Facebook: “I’m sure Betty White could’ve never of dreamed of such an honor and is smiling along with all of our friends at the Rainbow Bridge.”
