Head-on crash results in charges

According to a report filed by Cpl. J. E. Givens with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Rachel E. Poe, 38, of Cassville, driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, turned right onto Highway 112 from a private drive, directly into the path of a northbound 2016 Ford Taurus driven by 22-year-old Abigail L. Steiner, of Winfield, Kansas. A head-on crash resulted.
The accident happened at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, June 14, just south of Cassville.
Steiner suffered minor injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, 63-year-old Rebecca L. Steiner, also of Winfield, Kansas, suffered serious injuries. Both driver and passenger were transported by Mercy Ambulance to Cox South in Springfield.
The Steiners were wearing seat belts. Poe was not.
According to Given’s report, Poe was arrested for driving while intoxicated and placed on a 24-hour hold with the Barry County Sheriff’s office, where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (with physical injury), Driving While Revoked, Failure to Drive on Right Half of Roadway - Resulting in a Crash, and No Seat Belt.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Brice’s Towing of Cassville. Neither vehicle was insured.
The accident was investigated by CPL. J. E. Givens of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
