Mail stolen from over 60 Monett residences

The Monett Police Department recently announced a suspect is in custody following a series of mail thefts. According to a press release by police chief George Daoud, a 36 year old female out of Pierce City is in custody, and the case has been filed with the Barry County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
The investigation began after concerned citizens reported a suspicious vehicle and unusual activity. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver. On Sunday morning, September 22, the driver was taken into custody when mail from over 60 residences in Monett, Purdy and Verona was found.
All of the mail that was recovered was returned to the United States Postal Service for redelivery.
The locations the mail was taken from were 1st Avenue, 3rd Avenue, 8th Street, Atwell Acres, Benton, Chapel, Crestview Drive, County Street, Dairy, Dianne Lane, Eisenhower, Hickory, High Lakewood, Linden Logan, Morgan, Oakdale Lane, Old Orchard Drive, Opal, Pleasant, Pryor, Scott, Sunset and Wellington.
The police department is instructing residents who were expecting mail on Saturday that their deliveries may be missing or delayed. To report mail theft, tampering or vandalism, contact your local law enforcement agency or the United State Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455.
