Manhunt for Exeter resident ends after police standoff

According to Barry County Sheriff Danny Boyd, Michael Eugene Thomas, of Exeter, was arrested at a Springfield motel Monday night after a short standoff with officers from the Springfield Police Department.
According to a probable cause statement filed by Justin D. Ruark, with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Eugene Thomas, of Exeter, allegedly made threats over the phone to a Barry County Prosecutor’s Office employee. At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, Thomas called the Barry County Judicial Center in Cassville, and allegedly said to an employee, “If I have to come down there, someone is going to get killed over this.”
Thomas is now charged with a first-degree terrorist threat and is being held in the Barry County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
