Meeting on Jenkins bridge slated for March 19

Anyone interested in the preservation of the old Jenkins bridge is invited to a meeting on Tuesday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Jenkins Fire Station #1, located on Highway 248 near Jenkins. This will be the organizational meeting with officers and board members being nominated. If you would like to be nominated and cannot attend, contact Dawna Skaggs at (417) 574-6924.
Voting will be at the next meeting, currently scheduled for Thursday, April 4.
The first meeting of this group was held March 5 with approximately 25 present. Speakers included Tracie Snodgrass, Dawna Skaggs, Gene Swadley and Kayla Bayse. Discussion included the steps to becoming a 501(c)3 organization, working with the Historic Bridge Society and repairs needed to be a pedestrian bridge.
The first fundraiser has been set up as a concert by Homestead Pickers of Silver Dollar City. It will be hosted by the Wheelerville Community Church and Pastor Trent Huse on Saturday, March 23, at 7 p.m. The church is located at the Junction of Highways 248 and D, East of Jenkins. Admission is by donation.
