Monett man charged with multiple check forgeries

A Monett man was charged with multiple check forgeries throughout Barry County during February. Christopher David Blair, 29, of Monett, is charged with nine charges of forgery.
Charges against Blair were filed by the Monett Police Department during the month of February. According to detective David Haskins, Blair stole checks from multiple people, including from at least one person’s mailbox, and wrote them for various expenses and bills. When Blair was arrested, officers found checks on his person and in his vehicle. Some checks were written to Blair’s apartment owner and to himself. According to officers, Blair wrote multiple checks in amounts that varied between $70 and $400
Blair is currently being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $40,000 cash-only bond on eight of the charges and a $5,000 cash, corp surety or 10 percent on the remaining charge.
