Barry Co. Health Dept. releases more information on EFCO Covid-19 case

The Barry County Health Department is reporting that an individual who is employed at EFCO manufacturing plant
in Monett has tested positive for COVID-19. The case is a result of community spread and the individual is under
an isolation order. Close contacts are being contacted and, as appropriate, ordered to quarantine. All of those
identified cases will be monitored daily by the Barry County Health Department.
“We are working closely with Apogee officials, EFCO’s parent company, to ensure that their employees, families,
and our community remain safe," said Roger Brock, Administrator of the Barry County Health Department. "We
know the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to continue physical-distancing, wear cloth face
coverings, avoid large groups, and wash hands and surfaces frequently.
Barry County Office of Emergency Management Director, David Compton, added, “We have had great cooperation from our industrial partners in Barry County. They have voluntarily implemented safety processes, added equipment, and developed programs to continue to work as safely as possible. It is a testament of their commitment to the citizens of Barry County."
EFCO’s efforts have included active entry screening, required face-coverings, physical distancing, frequent daily
deep cleaning, pre-approved visitor access, and travel restrictions. Staff who display COVID-19 symptoms are
instructed to remain home and consult a physician. When a positive case is identified, the company initiates an
incident response procedure that includes: quarantining all close work contacts of the ill person, connecting
employees with medical professionals, enhanced cleaning processes, and follow up internal contact tracing.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath or at least two of the following: fever, chills,
repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.
Symptoms may begin two days to two weeks after exposure. Your physician can order testing or you can call the Barry County Health Department at 417-847-2114 to discuss testing.
State of Missouri and Barry County Phase 2 Reopening began June 16 and remains in effect until June 30, 2020.
Those rules include recommendations to maintain physical distancing, required source control masking in certain
circumstances, and enhanced hygiene practices. Persons at a higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19 including
those greater 65 years of age, who are immuno-compromised or have chronic medical conditions should limit
