Cassville youth Elijah Madsen was presented a Young Hero Award from Barry County Sheriff Danny Boyd last week.
Last Wednesday friends, family, and members of the Barry County Sheriff’s Office gathered at the Justice Center in Cassville to present Elijah Madsen, of Cassville, with a Young Hero Award, for his act of heroism during a burglary at his family residence on March 14 of this year.
Elijah, who is a middle school student at Cassville Middle School, was honored for his aid to his mother and younger brother who were in immediate danger due to an intruder in the family home. Elijah made sure his younger brother was safe from harm and returned to help his mother fight off the intruder until help arrived.
During the presentation Barry County Sheriff Danny Boyd stated Elijah’s strength, courage and determination greatly affected the outcome of the situation, and his actions without any thought for his own well-being exemplifies the true meaning of a young hero...not all heroes wear capes.
