According to two probable cause statements filed by Officer Michael Larery, with the Ozarks Drug Enforcement Team (ODET), Charles McGarrah (41) and Kenneth Hutchinson (37), both of Seligman, were arrested on October 22 for alleged methamphetamine possession and distribution.
At approximately 8 a.m. on October 22, members of the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, ODET, and McDonald County SWAT served a state search warrant to a Seligman property on Highway 112, a half a mile east of Highway 37.
According to Larery’s probable cause statement, Hutchinson was alleged to have been previously identified as a source of methamphetamine distribution in Barry County, and was believed to have an active felony warrant in Carroll County, Arkansas. The search warrant was served to the premises, and, once all occupants of the property were detained, Officer Larery contacted Hutchinson. Larery identified himself as an investigator affiliated with ODET. Hutchinson then verified which camper trailer on the premises he resided in and allegedly admitted to having methamphetamine in his stove.
A search of the camper revealed a large ziplock bag containing over 90 grams of a crystalline substance which later tested positive as methamphetamine.
Hutchinson’s warrant in Carroll County, Arkansas, was confirmed by the Barry County Sheriff’s Office, and Hutchinson was charged with second-degree drug trafficking.
Charles McGarrah was contacted that same morning as he exited the passenger’s side of a white Chevrolet truck on the property. A search of said vehicle allegedly revealed three grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
McGarrah denied knowledge of the substance when questioned, however, later allegedly admitted he had a small drug problem.
Hutchinson is being held in the Barry County Jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond; McGarrah is being held in the Barry County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
