Pedestrian injured trying to stop mini buggy

A Wheaton woman was injured after being dragged by a mini buggy on Sunday afternoon, September 29. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, a five year old child was driving and an adult was attempting to stop the vehicle.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the incident about 1:40 p.m. According to the report, the five year old was driving a Honda mini buggy of unknown year on a private property in Wheaton city limits. Venessa N. Nelson, 28, of Wheaton, tried to stop the vehicle and was dragged by it.
Nelson had moderate injuries from the incident and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
The child was not injured in the crash, and he was wearing a safety device.
There was no damage to the mini buggy.
