According to Mercy Hospital spokesperson, Sonya Kullman, the first allotment of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine arrived at Mercy Cassville, Thursday, December 17. Kullman said the vaccine’s prospective arrival had been generating many questions regarding its accessibility to the public.
“State guidelines dictate that health care workers and residents of long-term care facilities get vaccinated first,” she said, “so we don’t know yet when the vaccines will be ready for the general public, and we aren’t sure yet what the guidelines will be for distributing those.”
Kullman advises people to watch their MyMercy accounts and local media for updates.
Mercy will ensure that everyone is well informed about what they need to do when the vaccine is ready for broader public distribution, she said. If prospective vaccine recipients don’t already have a free MyMercy account (app or www.mymercy.net), they can download that now and they’ll receive a message when the vaccine is available.
