Pool Opening Postponed Due to Rain

June 2, 2021
Ezra DeVore

Originally set to open May 29, the YMCA pool opening has been postponed to Saturday, June 5. Due to weather circumstances, production on the pool’s resurfacing project has been delayed. According to the Cassville YMCA’s Facebook page, nearing the Cassville Aquatic Center’s twentieth construction anniversary, the pool is “getting a major face lift.”
The basin is being covered in a new protective epoxy surface designed to have extended durability, and will be “easy on bare feet.” New waterline tile and skimmer boxes are also being implemented, and the play features are being renovated. The remaining work in the deep end of the pool requires several hours of dry weather, yet Public Works Director David Brock remains hopeful for the June 5 opening date.
