Purdy crash claims lives of two drivers

A traffic accident on Highway 37 in Purdy Tuesday night claimed the lives of two drivers when a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by an 18-year-old male, Taylor B. McGlothlin, of Monett, crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Maria C. Haros (33) of Cassville.
Neither driver was wearing a safety device.
The drivers were pronounced deceased on the scene at 7 p.m. by Barry County Deputy Coroner, Todd McCoy. Their bodies were taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
Two female passengers in the 2013 Cruz, Katlyn P. Rose (20), of Cassville, and Katia R. Knott (21), of Cassville, were airlifted by medical helicopter: Rose, to Mercy Hospital in Springfield; and Knott, to Cox South in Springfield. Knott was wearing a safety device; Rose was not. Both women suffered serious injuries.
A juvenile male in the 2011 Malibu also suffered serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident.
Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene by Thomas Towing in Monett. No insurance information for either vehicle was available.
The accident marked Troop D’s 116th and 117th fatalities for 2021.
The accident was investigated by Trooper T. Coffey, with assistance from Sergeant S. Richardson, Trooper A. Poulson and Trooper T. Badgett.
