Purdy High presenting musical Nov. 1, 2

October 30, 2019
Picture
Rehearsals are in full swing for the 2019 Purdy High School Musical. Eagle performers will take the stage to present “Thoroughly Modern Millie, JR.” on Friday, November 1, and Saturday, November 2. Performances will be held each evening at 7 p.m. in the district’s Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 each and will be sold at the door. “Thoroughly Modern Millie” tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount (portrayed by PHS sophomore M’Kena Propps), who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love. Purdy High School vocal music director Lauren Lee invites patrons to “experience the magic of the Roaring ‘20s, when women were just entering the workforce and also embracing the glamour, fringe and beaded world of the flapper. Join us as we Charleston our way back in time for this Tony Award-winning spoof of a silent movie melodrama.” A sampling of Purdy performers rehearsing lines and dance steps is pictured above, from left to right: M’Kena Propps as Millie Dillmount; Makayla Mazza as Alice; Mea Hernanadez as Rita; and Avalon Rivers as Ruth.
