Purdy Lady Eagles upset Cassville

The Purdy Lady Eagles finished 2020 with 2-3 record, then started the new year with a 28-point loss to Crane. But on Friday night, the Lady Eagles invaded Cassville and pulled the 46-41 upset. The Lady Wildcats saw their six-game winning streak end, dropping to 9-4 with the loss. Purdy improved to 3-4.

• Wheaton girls cruise past winless TJ.
After losing a double overtime affair to Cassville in the finals of the Southwest Holiday Tournament, the Wheaton Lady Bulldogs returned to the win column with a 37-25 victory over winless Thomas Jefferson. Wheaton improved to 7-6 with the Tuesday victory, while the Lady Cavs fell to 0-5.
• Southwest struggles in holiday tournament.
A scheduling fiasco didn’t help Southwest’s Lady Trojans. When Billings, the #2 seed, withdrew from the Southwest Holiday Tournament, #7 seed Southwest was given a bye instead of reseeding the remaining teams. The Lady Trojans struggled in the winner’s bracket, and at week’s end had added two losses to their season record.
Southwest begins the new year at 2-7. The Lady Trojans host East Newton on Friday night.
• Lady Tigers fall to Marionville.
With a 56-23 loss to Marionville on Thursday, the Exeter Lady Tigers slipped to 0-7 for the season. The Exeter girls are scheduled to compete in the Pleasant Hope Invitational Tournament this week.
