Purdy man faces three counts after allegedly firing gun into home

A 25-year-old man from Purdy is facing multiple charges after allegedly firing a gun into a home in rural Purdy. Benjamin W. Paine, III, 25, of Purdy, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree.
According to the affidavits of probable cause by deputy Michael Stribling, the Barry County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a residence in rural Purdy on Farm Road 1068 around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, September 7. Paine allegedly fired a .22 long rifle into the home of a woman he was in a romantic relationship with while her four year old child was inside. The report goes on to state that Paine poked the victim in the arm with the rifle, causing an injury, as well.
When officers made contact with Paine, they also located crystal methamphetamine and a glass pipe in a baggie.
Paine is currently being held in the Barry County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 cash-only bond.
