The Purdy School Board met Monday, August 17.
Special guest, Marine Corps Sergeant Terry Billingsley, presented a plea to the Board requesting they not enforce a student mask ordinance.
Superintendent Mindi Gates announced that the new gym floor is complete, with the girls’ volleyball team scheduled to be the first to use it.
She also added that this year’s audit was completed in July. It took only one and a half days, a much shorter window of time than in years past.
According to Susan Funkhouser, enrollment for the 2020 - 2021 school year was still in progress as of August 17.
Tax rates for the Purdy R-II School District for the 2021 school year were set as follows:
• Fund 1, General Fund: 2.7642
• Fund 2, Special Revenue Fund: 0.0000
• Fund 3, Debt Service Fund: 0.7719
• Fund 4, Capital Projects Fund: 0.0000
Total: 3.5361 percent
A motion was made by board member, Ken Terry, and seconded by board member, Reuben Henderson, to set the Operating Levy at $2.7642, per Amendment 2 of Missouri State Statutes.
A substitute teacher list was approved for the upcoming year; an increase in meal prices was approved in order for the school to be in compliance with DESE requirements; and DESE’s model compliance plan for Special Education was adopted as presented.
The first day of classes for the 2020 - 2021 school year was August 25.
