EDIT: After review of the Hailey School House information on the Barry County Museum website, the school house held its last class in 1964.
Mountain Creek Ranch will soon begin renovations of the Hailey School House, located on the 1,000 acre working ranch, south of Jenkins.
Phil and Kimberly Melugin purchased Mountain Creek Ranch in 2018. The Hailey School House was re-built in 1938, after the original building was destroyed by fire, and held classes through 1969, when it was consolidated.
“When we first saw the school house, Kimberly immediately began to think about the history and the need to restore it in order to not lose that history,” said Phil Melugin. “As neighbors begin to share their stories, the vision formed for a complete restoration as close to possible of the exterior to what the school house was when originally built in 1903.”
The Melugins have plans for the school house to be a centralized event center for the Mountain Creek Ranch where groups can host meetings, meals, training, and much more.
