Shell Knob resident dies in head-on collision

Lori R. Cupp, 42, of Shell Knob, was killed in a head-on collision Saturday, August 8, when her southbound 2012 Nissan Sentra crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2014 Ford Edge driven by Tracy L. Periman, 51, of Aurora, Missouri.
The accident happened at 3:05 p.m. three miles north of Jenkins on Highway 39.
Cupp was not wearing a safety device. It is not known whether she was insured. She was pronounced dead on the scene by Barry County Coroner, Gary Swearingen. Her body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home, and the Sentra was towed by Brice’s Towing.
Periman, who was wearing a safety device, was transported to Springfield by Mercy Lifeline with serious injuries. Her vehicle was towed by Double Eagle Towing.
The wreck was investigated by Trooper M. W. Coleman with Troop D, of the Missouri Highway Patrol. He was assisted by Sergeant C. S. Mason and Crash Team Sergeant S. R. Richardson with the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The accident marked Troop D’s 67th fatality for the year.
