Shell Knob in the Spotlight (SKITS) actors gathered this week for the final rehearsals before the debut of their fourth play since the group formed in 2013, “Mind Over Manor.”
The play features a kooky cast of residents at Summer Meadows Manor as Jasmine Winters and private investigator Chester Banks attempt to prove rightful ownership over the mansion from her aunt, Opal Summers.
As the play unfolds, the cast brings the zany characters living in Summer Meadows Manor to life with particularly riveting performances by Sherri Lewis as Tawnee Patterson, a flighty, confused character with a “strange aversion to brandy,” and Barb Van Dusen as the know-it-all Patty Von Schtuk. Patterson and Van Dusen portray their larger-than-life characters with gusto, giving the audience definite bang for their buck.
The full cast includes Connie Figgins as Amanda Biggs, Rob Holmberg as Chester Banks Merri Magula as Jasmine Winters, Eileen Ploss as Lerlene Charleston, Susan Ramonette as Mavis Johns, Karin Stanley as Opal Summers, Bob Van Dusen as Vince Macchio, and Kathie Vice as Donna Summers. The play is directed by Lori Reaves.
The camaraderie and chemistry between the actors brings the story full circle in this upbeat, wacky comedy full of one-liners. It is sure to please the whole family.
SKITS was formed by Jim Robinson and Carol Webb in 2013. Mind Over Manor is the fourth play by the group since their formation. They’ve also starred in events at Shakin’ in the Shell as well as a variety show sponsored by the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce.
