Soccer season continues for Wildcats
October 21, 2020
According to Cassville High School soccer coach, Jake Forste, district play will begin on October 31 at 10 a.m., when the Cassville team will compete against Aurora in round one.
“I’m most just grateful the boys have been able to play soccer this fall,” Forste said. “Losing our spring girls’ season due to Covid-19 was a tough pill to swallow, so I am grateful for the opportunity to compete with these boys each and every day. We have had some challenges due to Covid: I don’t think our full squad has been together for almost a month now. This has led to losing a few close games we can’t help but feel like we’d have won with a full team and our full complement of starters available. But that’s part of the world we live in right now. It is important for us to get out there with whichever of our guys are available and compete to the best of our abilities. I think we’ve done that, time and again.
“Taking Aurora to overtime last week while missing 6 starters (and our first two bench guys) really shows the kind of resilience this team has,” Forste added. “I am proud of how they have handled adversity this fall-- having multiple players in quarantine at a time, chief among them.
