Southwest Holiday Tournament returns

    The annual Southwest holiday Basketball Tournament returns to the Washburn campus this weekend, featuring area teams in a classic post-Christmas gathering. This edition marks the 38th year for the boys tournament, and 7th for the girls. The Purdy Eagles and Cassville Lady Wildcats are the top seeded teams in this year’s tournament.
    Girls open play on Saturday with the following pairings:
• (1) Cassville vs (8) Exeter @ 4 PM
• (4) Reeds Spring vs (5) Marionville @ 5:30 PM
• (2) Billings vs (7) Southwest @ 7 PM
• (3) Wheaton vs (6) East Newton @ 8:30 PM
The boys tipoff on Monday with these pairings:
• (1) Purdy vs (8) Southwest JV @ 4 PM
• (2) Marionville vs (7) Exeter @ 5:30 PM
• (4) Diamond vs (5) Wheaton @ 7 PM
• (3) Southwest vs (6) Cassville @ 8:30 PM
    Second round and consolation games continue on Tuesday, with award and championship games concluding on Wednesday.
