Summer School's On in Cassville
Cassville R-IV School District will be holding summer classes. The news was announced in a press release received from the school on May 15. The press release, with class dates and information, follows.
Based on responses from our recent parent/guardian survey, approximately 65% of our primary and intermediate families have requested a summer school learning opportunity be made available to students. We appreciate the feedback given to us by our Wildcat families and we are working to provide both a quality and safe summer school experience.
In accordance with the CDC and the Barry County Health Department, Cassville Schools will follow health and safety guidelines based on established state and federal re-opening recommendations.
Incoming Kindergarten - 6th Grade
In-person, seated summer school will be offered to our incoming kindergarten students through 6th grade. Summer school session will take place May 27-June 30. Teachers will focus on fourth quarter curriculum and instruction. In an effort to practice social distancing, we will utilize both the primary and intermediate buildings and both cafeterias.
Summer school will begin at 8 a.m. each day and will conclude at 2:30 p.m. Breakfast will be served to students from 7:40 - 8 a.m. Breakfast and lunch is free for all students who attend summer school. An early room will be made available at 7 a.m. in the primary and intermediate buildings.
To enroll your child in summer school, please return the following registration form to your student’s teacher or the building office.

K-6 students will have the opportunity to attend activities at the Cassville Aquatic Center. This will be done on a rotation to allow plenty of room for students to maintain distance, thus, each child will not visit the pool every week. At this time, the aquatic center is the only scheduled field trip.
First grade students will be participating in the YMCA Water Safety program. These students will be given more information about this program from their classroom teachers.
Health and Safety Guidelines:
Students 7th - 12th Grade
7th - 12th grade summer school courses will be offered virtually. Incoming freshmen are eligible to take advantage of high school summer school courses.

Health and Safety Guidelines:
- We will strive to follow safe social distancing practices by class.
- When summer school begins, both students and staff will be served breakfast and lunch in their classrooms. As the state of Missouri transitions to phase 2, the district will work to transition meal service to the cafeterias.
- The district will practice “wash-in/wash-out” with both students and staff. They will be asked to wash hands immediately upon arrival at school and again at the conclusion of the day. In addition to wash-in/wash-out, breaks will be provided during the day to both wash and sanitize hands.
- Transportation will be provided. Please review the summer school flyer for details or call 847.5525 for more information.
- Custodians will be cleaning and disinfecting between each transition period and at the conclusion of the day.
- If a staff member or student is sick, they must be fever free for three days before returning to school.
- For health and safety concerns, outside visitors and parents will be restricted. This includes visits during breakfast and lunch.
- Recess and physical education classes will be adjusted based on guidelines and recommendations of state and federal health authorities.
- Water fountains will be closed. The district will provide disposable bottles of water for all students. Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.
- A nurse will be available on each campus.
- Students and staff members can choose to wear masks but they are not required.
- Due to the unique circumstances, attendance incentives and awards will not be distributed.
