According to Cory Rothstein, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Springfield, Tuesday’s snow set a record for snowfall amounts for April 20.
“We recorded 2.4 inches of snow at our Springfield office,” Rothstein said, “but we had reports of up to three inches come in from the northeast corner of Springfield.”
Cold temperatures overnight Tuesday also set a record in our area, according to Rothstein.
“We recorded 26 degrees in Springfield,” he said. “The previous record for this date was 28 degrees in 1978.”
