The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the plans for its annual gala for members, and this year the event will be one for the books. This year's event will be hosted on Saturday, January 18, and will feature guest speaker Terry Jamieson.
This year's banquet will feature similar events to last year's, including the return of the popular silent auction. This year's auction already has items like a Nintendo Switch, provided by Freedom Bank; a Ring video doorbell and Amazon Echo Show 5, from GoBEC; two adult season passes to Silver Dollar City, donated by MariCorps U.S.; a Valentine’s roses and chocolates package, donated by Carey’s Cassville Florist; a Cassville Wildcats basket with swag and an all sports family pass for the 2020-2021 season for two adults and three children, donated by Cassville R-IV School; two Wonders of Wildlife Ozarks Adventure Three-Attraction Combo tickets with Arning swag, donated by Arning; and a portable basketball goal, provided by Cassville Walmart. There will be additional items announced closer to the banquet, as well.
The speaker of this year's event is a well-known name in the Cassville area. Terry Jamieson was an administrator at Cassville Schools before moving to another district. He is a motivational speaker and has also authored books and branched out into nature photography.
Chamber director Rachael Selby Freeman said the decision to host Jamieson was an obvious choice since he began giving motivational speeches. She said, "He is well known throughout Cassville having been an administrator at the school, and a lot of people respect him from working with him, being one of his students or going to church with him.
"He's done so much since he's left Cassville, including completing a 100-mile run and becoming an author. We really think he will be a great speaker for the event, and it's like having an old friend come back."
The event will also include chamber awards as in years prior.
This year's event will be catered by new chamber member Flat Creek Restaurant. This menu is broasted chicken and smoked pork dinner with green beans, mashed potatoes and white gravy, cole slaw, rolls with honey butter and a dinner salad.
The event will be on Saturday, January 18, at 6 p.m. at the Cassville High School commons area. Tickets for the annual Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce banquet are on sale now. Advance tickets are $30 and can be obtained through the chamber. Tickets at the door will be available for $35.
