Mario Che-Tiul, the last of six prisoners who violently assaulted two correctional officers and escaped from the Barry County Jail on June 1, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Avondale, Pennsylvania, on September 21.
“We were notified yesterday at about 12:30 p.m. that Che-Tiul was apprehended in Avondale, Pennsylvania, and will be held in the Chester County Jail in West Chester, Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition back to Missouri,” said Barry County Sheriff Danny Boyd. “I would like to thank the U.S. Marshal Service for working with us and keeping us updated throughout the investigation.”
Che-Tiul was being held in the Barry County Jail on charges of first-degree child molestation and incest before the violent jailbreak in June and will face additional charges including two counts of assault first degree or attempt-serious physical injury or special victim, two counts of kidnapping-facilitating a felony-inflicting injury-terrorizing first degree, and escape or attempted escape from confinement by striking person.
According to Sheriff Boyd, the prisoner will be transported to the Greene County Jail in Springfield.
