Vaccination rate up, COVID cases down

According to an April 7 update from the Barry County Health Department, 23.7 percent of the county’s population has been vaccinated.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 declined to 17, for a two week period from March 24 through April 7.
The positivity rate has fallen to 12.5 percent, a ratio reached by dividing the total number of confirmed cases since record-keeping began (a year ago) by the total number of COVID-19 tests given for the same period.
The percentage of vaccinated Barry County residents is higher than the rate of vaccinated residents of surrounding counties.
The Lawrence County Health Department reports that 19.4 percent of that county's population.has been vaccinated. In Stone County, 22.9 percent of residents have been vaccinated; McDonald County reports a 10.7 percent vaccination rate; and 14 percent of Newton County residents have been vaccinated.
For the state of Missouri, the vaccination rate stood at 28.9 percent as of April 7.
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Barry County - for the record-keeping period since counting began - is 3,100. Of those, 53 died.
For the same counting period, 24,837 tests were administered.
