Varner bids farewell to Collector’s seat

On Friday, June 21, a retirement party was hosted in the courtroom of the historic Barry County Courthouse to honor the career and retirement of county collector Janice Varner. During the presentation, Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick, a lifelong acquaintance of Varner’s, stopped by to speak of his fond memories of the collector and present her honors from the Governor’s office.

Missouri State Senator David Sater attended Varner’s retirement party. Sater spoke on Varner’s career and accomplishments, having lived and served together in Cassville for a number of years. Varner thanked the attendees of her retirement party as well as the people of Barry County for allowing her to serve the county for such a long time. Varner served as county collector since January 2003.
