A Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house were held at the new W.I.L.D. Academy on the Cassville R-IV campus Friday, May 28. The ceremony marked the long-awaited formal completion of the academy, which was the result of the passage of a bond issue in the spring of 2019.
With funds from “Vision 150” (as the bond was called), $4.5 million was allocated toward the project, as well as toward the construction of an Early Childhood Development Center, which was completed last year.
W.I.L.D. Academy, which will provide space for a college-level biology class, Fifth Grade science classes, and K - 12 gifted programs, is the result of the repurposing of former middle school space which had been unused for years, other than for storage.
School administrators are in the process of selecting furnishings for the new rooms, and expect to have the academy ready for student use by the beginning of the 2021 - 2022 school year.
