Wrecks result in fatality, multiple injuries

• Russell Janecka (61), of Victoria, Texas, was driving an eastbound 2019 FJR Motorcycle when he tried to overtake another vehicle, and went off of Highway 76, striking a tree. According to a Missouri Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred September 30 at 10:10 a.m., and Janecka was pronounced dead by Dr. Strangler with Mercy Hospital at 10:55 a.m. Janecka was wearing a safety device, and his vehicle was totaled. Janecka was then taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
This was Troop D’s 101st fatality accident for 2021.
• According to a Missouri Highway Patrol report, at 3:50 p.m. on October 1, Terry Leech (27), of Pierce City, was driving a westbound 1978 Honda Motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve and overturned on Highway 97, four miles north of Wheaton.
Leech was wearing a safety device. He was transported by a Barry Lawrence Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with serious injuries. Leech’s vehicle sustained minor damage.
• October 1 at 4:50 p.m., Dalton Evans (27), of Seligman, was driving a northbound 2007 Chrysler Pacifica when he pulled into the path of Ariana Robinson’s eastbound 2010 Toyota Prius on Highway 86, one mile east of Eagle Rock.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, Ariana Robinson (22), of Golden, was accompanied by Haley Hartman (23), of Monett. Dalton Evans was accompanied by Devin Hobbs (27), of Cassville. It is unknown if any passengers wore safety devices. Robinson and Hobbs were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, while Hartman and Evans were transported to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, all with moderate injuries. Extensive damage was sustained by both vehicles.
• Nikki Allen (36), of Purdy, was driving an eastbound 2019 Ford Expedition when a southbound 2006 Toyota Corolla, driven by a juvenile (16), failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Allen. Both vehicles were totaled. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred at 6:25 p.m. on October 1 on Farm Road 2140, one mile south of Butterfield.
The 2006 Toyota Corolla had four teenaged occupants (ages 16, 16, 16, and 15) from Eagle Rock, Cassville, and Golden. All involved were wearing safety devices.
All of the juveniles were transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville: two with private vehicles, two were taken by EMS.
