Bill’s Appliance offers consignments

If you want to make some extra money by selling furniture or appliances you no longer use, but don’t have time have a yard sale, you might want to give Bill Larecy a call. Larecy, who has owned and operated Bill’s Appliances in Cassville for over 16 years, opened a consignment shop in his store.
Larecy said he had been thinking about opening the consignment store for awhile but decided to open the store in March when a slowdown in his appliance sales gave him time to focus on taking his business in a new direction.
In terms of merchandise, Larecy is very open on what he will take for consignment. “I will accept appliances, furniture, tools, lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, fishing tackle and anything else of value,” he said.
Larecy is also very flexible about how much he charges. While most consignment stores take 50 percent of whatever they sell, Larecy said he will use a sliding scale to determine what percentage of each sale he’ll keep. Among the factors he’ll consider is the value of the item and how difficult it is to sell.
“Everything is negotiable,” he said.
In the case of those who don’t want to wait for an item to sell or need money right away, Larecy said he may simply buy the merchandise and then resell it on a case-by-case basis. “We’ll buy something if they want to sell it outright,” he said.
Larecy said those who have items to sell should consider bringing them to him before taking it to a flea market, as they will save money. “With flea markets,” Larecy said, “you have to rent a booth. Here, it doesn’t cost you anything until it sells. Prices can be negotiable.”
Larecy’s new consignment store is located at 10646 Farm Road 2180 in Cassville and is open on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday by appointment.
