Branson man killed in four wheeler-SUV crash on Hwy. 86

A Branson man died after a four-wheeler and SUV collided on Highway 86 on Wednesday, July 10.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Jamie M. Merchant, 44, of Berryville, Ark., was driving a 2017 Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Highway 86 near 34312 US Highway 86 in Eagle Rock, attempting to make a turn. Dylan E. Welker, 21, of Branson, was driving a Yamaha 450R four-wheeler westbound and struck the front of the Jeep.
Welker was thrown from the four-wheeler. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by deputy coroner Gary Swearingen at 3:40 p.m. Welker was taken to Fohn Funeral Home.
Merchant had no reported injuries at the time of the crash. He was tested for alcohol as required by State Law.
Merchant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Welker was not wearing any safety device.
The Jeep sustained moderate damage in the crash, and the Yamaha was totalled. Both were towed from the scene by Table Rock, of Shell Knob.
This is Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D's 49th fatality for 2019. Welker's next of kin were notified.
