Small town business is the lifeblood of any community the size of Cassville. From small town pharmacies on the square to floral shops and a variety of family-owned restaurants, Cassville lives and breathes small business. In order to assist those businesses in keeping their fire and passion for their industries alive, the Cassville Chamber of Commerce has contracted with Higher Vision, of Joplin, to hold a seminar.
Higher Vision is a company from Joplin aiding businesses by looking at their overall layout, business plans and in-store arrangements and creating comprehensive growth strategies for clients.
On Thursday, September 26, Higher Vision, in conjunction with the Cassville Chamber of Commerce, will hold a seminar called Big Vision Day.
According to Chamber of Commerce director Rachael Selby, the seminar is a different type of event for the chamber, geared more toward the idea of business improvement and growth rather than promotion.
“The chamber is usually very event-driven, but we also know that there is a need to bring resources in for our small businesses, business owners and people looking to start a business,” said Selby. “We wanted to do some different type of thing for some of our members that would be beneficial to them.”
Selby went on to explain that the event will feature a variety of speakers with various areas of expertise in business growth as well as an opportunity for the business owners of Cassville and the surrounding areas to meet and communicate.
“They’re going to have different, high-energy speakers come in and talk,” Selby explained. “It’s also a great networking opportunity. The point is to try and revive the energy in our businesses. We want them to be able to ask themselves why they started their business and get back to the passion of it. It’s also to provide ways to look at how they’re running their business and give them ways to make improvements.”
Selby has been in contact with representatives from chambers of commerce in the surrounding areas about Higher Vision seminars, some of which experienced great success in the wake of their events.
“This group has offered Big Vision Days to a lot of the chambers in the area. I’ve talked to the Neosho Chamber of Commerce, and they say that they’ve had a lot of success,” said Selby. “These other chambers have seen success, with their attendance growing and people liking it. The business owners seem to like it and are ready to go to the next one.”
In addition to joining the Cassville Chamber of Commerce, Higher Vision has also been working with businesses in town on a one-on-one basis successfully, according to Selby.
Big Vision Day will take place on Thursday, September 26. The event is slated to take place in the Fire Tower room of the Emory Melton Lodge, in Roaring River State Park. The event will begin at 8 a.m. with a social hour during which attendees are encouraged to meet with other local business owners and make lasting connections. According to Selby, attendees should bring multiple business cards to pass out during this portion of the event.
The seminar is open to anyone who is interested in either starting or growing a business. Admission to the event costs $40 for the general public, and $25 for members of the Cassville Chamber of Commerce. Lunch is included in the ticket and will be provided by Roaring River Restaurant.
