Cookbook sales benefit Backpack Program at Cassville R-IV
Elementary counselor, Kristie Preddy, holds a copy of “Packed with Love,” a cookbook on sale now. Proceeds benefit the school’s Backpack Program, which provides food to area children. Look for recipes from the cookbook throughout this issue of The Barry County Advertiser.

Nothing speaks to the heart quite like food, so giving a loved one a recipe book makes a great Valentine’s gift for 2021. Make it a hint to your significant other that you’d like her (or him) to whip up a sweet treat - or a dinner entree - to tickle your taste-buds. Or, if you’re the cook of the duo, take it upon yourself to purchase a cookbook and try out a new recipe on your other half.
Just in time for Valentine dinners, the Cassville R-IV school district is selling a cookbook titled Packed with Love.
Packed with Love is filled with recipes contributed by the community members of Cassville. Written by co-authors Kristie Preddy, counselor of the Cassville Primary school, and Deanna Dickenson, who compiled the recipes, the book was funded by the First Baptist Church and published by Litho Printers and Bindery.
Packed with Love was originally published in 2012 to help support the Cassville R-IV Backpack Program and its sales still benefit that cause.
“The Backpack Program provides food for children who need it,” Preddy said. “I started the program 15 years ago and it has helped the students at Cassville. All of the resources are 100 percent donation-supported, and, thanks to the community, we have never struggled.”
Packed with Love is another product of the community’s generosity. It’s filled with recipes for people of all ages to partake in. It’s also filled with creative and unique illustrations drawn by the primary and intermediate students of Cassville R-IV.
Buy a copy of Packed with Love, and bake some tasty Valentine cookies with, or for, those dear to you. Although this cookbook makes a great Valentine’s gift, it’s also perfect for Christmas, since even moms and grandmas will appreciate a copy!
Packed with Love is available both at the elementary and intermediate school, as well as the First State Bank of Purdy in Cassville. The books sell for $10 each.
To purchase the book, or for more information, please call the elementary school at 417-847-2445, the intermediate school at 417-847-4010, or stop by First State Bank at 98 Main Street, Cassville.
